Now the sons of the prophets who were at Jericho came to Elisha and said to him, “Do you know that the LORD will take away your master from over you today?” So he answered, “Yes, I know; keep silent!” 2 Kings 2.5
Elisha kept looking intently at Elijah, his master, and decided never to leave him. This was because the prophet would be lifted above his head. We need to give the Word the same attention. Since God has foreknowledge, He has put in the Bible the necessary instructions for us to honour and glorify Him. Nothing will separate us from the love of Christ, which must grow in us and completely dominate us. It is inconceivable, being filled with the Holy Spirit, that we don’t do like the Lord. Set in your heart the following guidance of the Messiah: Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away (Matthew 24.35). Jesus is never wrong when He gives you a task, nor when He reveals to you your rights in Him and what you can do as a disciple and member of His Body. Believe and see the glory of the Father! Both the sons of the prophets from Bethel and Jericho were able to hear the plans of God concerning Elijah and Elisha. These men did not let jealousy possess them, nor did they covet the position given to Elijah’s replacement, who knew how to leave his father’s riches to seek the riches of the Most High. That which belongs to man perishes, but that which comes from the Lord will accompany us for eternity. When the faithful servant hears something from God, and not from his weak mind, he must steadfastly hold to the divine message. This way, he will have wisdom to act correctly. The revelation from on High helped Elisha to be sure of what would happen to him after the transfer of his disciple-maker. We cannot imagine things and still say that they came from the Lord. But when He tells us something, we can believe that what we hear will be done. I repeat: You must be very careful when claiming that the Lord has revealed something to you! If it is not true, you will become a defendant in eternal Judgment (Deuteronomy 18.20). Some people think they are helping when they say that what they feel comes from God. Well, when something comes from Heaven, we soon know, because He is wise and never leaves us confused: For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints (1 Corinthians 14.33). The young prophets in Jericho declared the same as those in Bethel. This shows the origin of their feelings, which would be fulfilled. In those days, there were no means of communication like today. Therefore, nobody used a cell phone to arrange anything; there was no telephone! Furthermore, the prophet who told a lie would be killed, because his prophecy would never come true. The Holy Spirit only reveals the truth! Elisha assured them that he also knew what would happen. So, the news really came from the Most High. Follow the Lord closely, and you will be used as He wants. Live in the divine atmosphere, be an instrument of the heavenly Father, and fulfil His purpose in this generation. In Christ, with love, Doctor Soares.
